FUE Hair Transplant

Benefits of FUE
  • No linear scar – only tiny dot scars that are barely visible, even with short hair.

  • Ideal for short hairstyles – patients can shave down to 0.5–1 mm without obvious scarring.

  • Less invasive – no sutures or staples; donor area heals faster.

  • Less post-op tightness – more comfortable recovery.

  • Can harvest from multiple areas – scalp, beard, chest, body hair for expanded donor supply.

  • Allows selective harvesting – can target areas with best-quality follicles for natural results.

  • Flexible repeat procedures – easy to do touch-ups or staged surgeries. Can do up to 2 or max of 3 FUE procedure over lifetime if meticulously performed in the past.

⚠️ Disadvantages of FUE
  • Longer surgery time – extracting thousands of follicles one by one takes time.

  • Higher cost per graft – more labor-intensive, uses advanced tools/robotics in some clinics.

  • Lower yield for megasessions – not as efficient for very large (>4000–6000 graft) cases.

  • Higher risk of transection – follicle damage possible if technique or tools aren’t perfect.

  • Patchy donor appearance if overharvested – must be done evenly to avoid “moth-eaten” look.

  • Limited number of lifetime grafts – overharvesting can deplete donor area faster.

  • Operator dependence – quality varies widely between clinics (experience matters). Technicians without proper knowledge of Anatomy of structures, Physiology of hair graft and Pharmacology local anesthetics, are performing procedures in black market.

LSE/Strip Surgery

Benefits of Strip Surgery (FUT/LSE)
  • Higher graft yield per session – can harvest 1800–3500+ grafts in a single session reliably.

  • Better for megasessions – efficient for cases needing maximum coverage in one sitting. Super efficient option for Hybrid / Combo procedure (Strip + FUE)

  • Preserves donor area – leaves more surrounding follicles untouched, allowing future sessions.

  • Higher graft survival – follicles are dissected under microscope with intact tissue and less transection.

  • Shorter operating time – quicker than extracting thousands of FUE grafts individually.

  • Preferred for curly or very fine hair – less risk of follicle transection compared to FUE.

  • Flexible repeat procedures – Can take up to 2 or max of 3 FUT / LSE / strip procedures over lifetime if meticulously performed in the past.

⚠️ Disadvantages of Strip Surgery (FUT/LSE)
  • Linear scar – a permanent line scar in donor area (though usually hidden by surrounding hair). Can also be corrected by placing grafts from FUE into the strip scar site. Minimized with Trichophytic closure.

  • Longer recovery in donor area – mild tightness, numbness, or discomfort for weeks.

  • Limited hairstyle choices – very short buzz cuts may reveal the scar.

  • Slightly more invasive – involves sutures or staples, which need removal.

  • Potential for scar stretching – if large strip is taken or scalp laxity is low.

  • Post-op numbness – temporary (sometimes rarely permanent) in donor area.

  • Not ideal for very tight scalps – risk of tension or wider scars.
